The Secret to Becoming the Top Website in Any Popular Niche 2017 – Better Alexa Rank

Do you want to have one of the most popular
sites on the web? Well, who doesn’t. There’s a site out there called Alexa.com. It’s actually owned by Amazon and it’s different
the Alexa your familiar with. Right? You don’t tell Alexa.com “Alexa, please order
me a pizza.” That’s a little automated robot cylinder type
of bot, artificial intelligence like Siri. This is Alexa.com, which focuses on moderating
and ranking the web for popularity. Hey everyone, I’m Neil Patel and today I’m
going to teach you how to increase your Alexa rank. The first thing you need to know about Alexa.com
is they rate sites from some million number to one. One’s being the most popular website on the
web. So that’s probably going to be a Google or
a Facebook, and you can see by going to Alexa.com and they rank the most popular sites all over
the web and they even have a list of the top hundred websites. When you are looking at this rating number,
you want to climb towards the top. What that means is you want your Alexa number
to continually drop. So how do you do this? Well, you get more traffic. The more people that visit your website, the
better off your Alexa ranking is going to be. So there are a few quick wins you can do to
increase your Alexa rank. The first thing you can do is install the
Alexa toolbar. So the more of your visitors or readers coming
to your site with the Alexa toolbar, the better off you rank is going to be, because that
way Alexa can collect data from all these people. The second thing you can do is just promote
your content on the social web. So every time you have a new blog post or
you updated some of your content share it on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Pinterest. If you have images put them all over Twitter. You can also put them all over Pinterest,
right? You can also put them on Facebook, wherever
they may be. The third thing you can do is any time you
link out to other people, email them and say “Hey, John. I love your content so much that I linked
out to you my latest blog post. Feel free and share on your favorite social
network. Cheers, Neil.” It’s that simple. You’re going to get more social shares and
more traffic which means a lower Alexa number. The lower the number again, the better your
Alexa rank. The fourth thing you can do is use AHREFS.com,
type in you competitor URL’s, and see who links to them. Email each of those people out, its that simple. Follow those steps and your Alexa rank will
improve over time. When you do them do expect your number to
drop closer to one or a thousand cause it’s really hard to get to those numbers, but you
can get to one hundred thousand or maybe fifty thousand or even twenty or thirty thousand. But it takes time. Look at your Alexa ranking it should improve
over a period or thirty to sixty days, after you implement these steps.

Looks like Youtube isn't worth it for your target audience, Neil. I know for a fact you make more than a million in revenue a year with your autowebinar, and Youtubes demographic is mostly around the ages of 18 or so (give or take 5 years). Blogging is probably a lot more worth your time. Quality content though! Almost too much quality for the amount of views your getting.

Is there a benefit to having an inflated Alexa ranking just by asking your users to install the Alexa toolbar apart from a nice ego boost?

Hi Neil – we are a private university in India. Our Alexa global rank is increasing everyday, but the India rank is falling by the hundreds. Our organic traffic is steady and direct traffic is climbing fast. A lot of referral traffic through banner ads on 3 party websites too. Should we be worried? Also, any inferences from our alexa rank trend that you may know/have experienced in the past?

Your channel is very helpful. Thanks

How to rank a specific keyword to specific countries?

Like keyword A1 has low difficulty for US, so will work behind it for US
And A2 has low difficulty for India, so would focus it for india
And A3 has low difficulty for US, CA but high for IN. So would like to promote in US and CA only and not in india.

So how do we focus specific keyword to rank on specific country?

Please explain. Preparing for event blog so have to do things correctly.

    Thanks Neil

Nice to know. Thanks. However, why does it matter what our websites are ranked at? If they are making us money, that would how I rank my site. To be a top website in a popular niche? What if your niche is not popular, like writing reviews for MMO programs. So would not probably help to actually have a low number.
