verifying domain ownership in google webmaster tools when adding a new domain to google webmaster tools you’ll be asked to download a file from their site and upload that file to the root of your domain this is what the file looks like in this video I will use the FileZilla FTP file transfer program to upload the Google file you can also use the file manager tool in your cPanel to do the transferring to start the process login to Google Webmaster at google.com ford slash webmasters when the page opens click to sign in in the upper right-hand corner when this page opens you’ll see any domains you have previously added along with an image of the home page for those domains click the add a property link in the upper right hand corner on this page type or paste in your new domain and click Add at step one we download the file we need for verification right click and save it where you could easily find it I always make a new folder and name it the same as the domain and save everything I might need for that domain in this folder click the Save button now log in to whatever program you are using for file transfers in FileZilla click file site manager and then choose the domain you are working with you can then click connect or ok to login to the domain then make sure that you double click the public HTML folder now go to the left side of FileZilla and find and double click the folder where you save the Google verification file in our case here it was hot buttered popcorn highlight the Google file and drag it across to the right side making sure you’re still in public HTML back in google webmaster click the link you find in item number three you’re almost finished pay attention to the stay verified note then click the I’m not a robot box and finally click verify if everything went well you’d receive the congratulation notice and that’s all there is to it
