This is useful but badly presented. The science was the interesting part. The music was unnecessary and distracting. The female shrieks added nothing. “Wow! Bodies are so complicated”. “I had SO much fun” “ Happy physicsing”.
I Love the video

Those Sofie has a Spine I don’t think i can do that I think i can do that yes or no
Maybe i can do that yes or no
So basically what you trying to say is that stretching makes your spine look like a caterpillar
Zen says anatomically stretching is one type of bending. It may be forward or backward.
I watch telly in the splits I can stay in the splits for 20 mins
Soooooooooo, if you hold a stretch for 30-60 seconds a day for 6 days a week will improve flexibility?
You remind me a little of Jenna marbles lol
I’m so flexible to
I can do that and I'm only 7
I can pass the bed with my head when I bend
He talked about collagen. Will you ask him if it’s fit for humans to consume bovine collagen? How can we either prevent loss of collagen or restore it?
I'm more flexible than the gymnasts in my gymnastic class and I just started a month ago…how?😂😂
How many EDSers are watching this?? (wishing they could do any of this without subluxating anything lol)
This video has nothing to do with physics.
I’m a contortionist, I was like oh no 😱I do contortion is my back gang to break? ;o
Hi! Actually, the question is largely wrong. Stretching is mental, not physical. If someone is unconscious, they can do the splits without any problem. That is why picking up an unconscious person is so difficult. The mind protects the body from unsafe positions by making us stiff. Stretching trains the mind that these positions are safe. Strangely, one of the best and safest ways to stretch is not by relaxing but by flexing the muscle that you want to stretch. Flexing the muscle tells the brain, "I'm okay. I've got this under control". A good test for this is the quadriceps. So, stretching doesn't do much to the body, it does a lot to the mind.
It actually has accurate information of the topic, which i am genuinely impressed. Amazing
Bikram yoga makes regular people this flexible.
1:22 Hey Physics Girl, quick correction: hyperflexible and hypermobile are not interchangeable terms. It's not " hyperflexible (or hypermobile)". They're two components that together make you more bendy. The flexibility is in the ligaments/tendons. The mobility is in the joints.
Sofie is what's often referred to as "healthy hypermobile". I was like that when I was around her age – it made things like yoga and gymnastics super easy – but now I'm starting to devolve into an unhealthy state (I have hEDS, aka "my body produces defective collagen"), where my joints slip out of alignment while I'm walking down the street, picking a cup of coffee up off the table, or even just shifting slightly in my seat. So for those in the comments wishing they could do what Sofie does: be careful what you wish for.
Soo is steaching good for u
Edit:dish makesh no sensh
The real question is Sophie single…
…haha, jk, I don't care if she's single.
Thank you for this video. And for all of them, but when I saw this one for the second time, it helped me understand a lot of things. Again, thank you!
Who is down for some bukkake action with my highschool teacher ?
I'm jealous man I'm jealous
Yoga, boys. Yoga.
stretching for me helps to relieve pain from my back and hips, it does weirdly feel good.
Hey, at least you got up into a bridge, a lot of people can't do that.
I can do the thing with my thumb and the thing with my fingers very far down
That's the exorcist inside out a literal human female twisting turning bending in half the human being body of evolution is not suposed or meant to be bent that way the anatomy it takes to withstand that kind of exorsice is enormous unheard of never never seen somone contork their body that way their backs and whole body backwards like a suitcase being folded backwards say like when ur heading somewhere trying to get somewhere that's epic
Is it bad to have alot of back flexibility like soffie🤔
Wow. super interesting.
They don’t mention any actual benefit to stretching and lots of people have been seriously and permanently injured doing yoga including myself. Read the Science of Yoga the risks and rewards by William J Broad.
Lol ok I'm hyper mobile…?
What I know about flexibility I can do: 1. Splits2.Bend3.chair back bendAng others……it's true if you trust on me like
got zero points on that hyper mobility scale :O
I need this flex girl
Everyone can be flexible 🤷🏽♀️
Just work for it
Physics Girl gone Biology.
the 2k people that disliked the video are the people sitting at home doing nothing all day.
I've been waiting for this collab!
Simply has you grow, you stretch 😉
Which is the link to the meta analysis?
I am on my brothers channel because I don’t have my channel and I can put my legs in front of my head and I can do a backbend and the splits
I got 8 out of 9 on the test
I can do the human donut and pretzel easily and it does not hurt
Best way to make a muscle more flexible, is to cut it up into thee pieces and insert rubber in the gaps!! 🙂 Just kidding of course. Charmingly presented and very informative video. One thing I learned along with way in my Yoga studies, is that when you stretch muscles, gently, they send a signal to the nervous system (via the proprioceptors) that all is OK, helps the mind relax more, that kind of thing. After all, don't you feel your muscles tensing when you're stressed? Well, Yoga does the opposite! Hey, Jesus did Yoga! (just kidding, again…!)
She dose have a spine because when she dose a back bend you see a pocket thing it is her spine she is just soooooooooooooooo skine
Yes very cool
I once tried to barefoot ski and when I wiped out my feet hit the back of my head. Good times.
I’d be in the hospital if I tried that.
Your video is much better when you just talk. Please don’t splice in short segments where you pull a face or make a smart remark. I know it’s the current fashion, but it’s irritating.
She was joking she as a spine she probably did gunasticks for a year everyone has to have a spine
No human is perfect to be flexible only in a fantasy world where humanity’s flexible I’m not flexible
I did the splits once . . . landed wrong after a parachute jump! The only thing that I can stretch with ease is the truth! lol
My god I am In pain just watching her ! Lol at 47 I was happy to be able to tough my toes……
I was twisted up like that in my car. They used the jaws of life to get me out. Now, they call me ‘Hotwheels’.
When i stretched my muscle .. I came 🙂
Depends on if you issues with your spine or not
She could go as a cute spider on Halloween, with those feet in front of her.
I can help her stretch out some more.
How to get faster?
So if you’re adding more sarcomeres, the contractile units, would that mean that the muscle could produce more contractile force?
You do have a spine😁
Her boyfriend must keep a great BIG smile on his face!
Soffie:does back bend Me:breaks in half 😂
All I kno is Sofie is fn hott.
Ok so that girl is super flexible ….not sure why we should be amazed by her, she literally said she was like that as a kid. It's not like she worked hard for it…all she had to do was maintain it from there. Not exactly an underdog story.
Realy no wat ur talking about girlfriend dummy
“Likes, likes, likes…” 4.0+ million views…..👏🏼👍🏻
How do this !!!!!!!!
This guy is a lier
I have never wanted to be a contortionist.

This was published on my birthday just last year
I want to be a contorsionistBut its hard to do it on my own
No, no no! Hypermobility and hyperflexibility are two VERY DIFFERENT THINGS.
I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, which means I am hypermobile. I have defective collagen. Hypermobility is genetic, you're born with it. It can also be debilitating. I for example dislocate my joints hundreds of times a day, I have to wear metal splints on my fingers to stop my fingers from dislocating every time I pick up a pencil. The hypermobility doesn't just affect joints either, it's skin, hair…. Even organs. My hypermobility has paralysed my stomach, so I can never eat solid food again. It's also caused brain fluid to leak from my nose, it also makes me pass out when I stand up sometimes.
As you can tell, there's a massive distinction between hypermobility and flexibility already.
Flexibility is from stretching, this is what contortionists do. They condition their joints to get used to this. I used to be a contortionist until I had to stop. Flexibility is not debilitating, you can go about your life normally when you're not purposely stretching. Flexibility is the result of training, you aren't born with it.
The s*x must be wild bro
Surprised they didn't cover the Golgi Tendon Organ and it's effect on stretching…
And what if your collagen snaps
Did Sofia take out her spine
Thank you Michael, Sofie and you!! Doing Yoga right now, and it's interesting. Meditation trains and alter the brain, stretching the body and muscles and such. Feeling even more motivated now. :p
I swear a stretch for a year and I gain 2 cm 😂😂 I stretch mostly my leg and spine back and I get more flexible
